This portal provides access to a Grid-based on-line rendering service. To learn more about this application please visit our wiki.
What is the rendering challenge?
Rendering images is a crucial step when designing computer animation. In the case of 3D graphics, rendering is a highly computationally demanding process. A rendering task can run for hours or days on a personal computer.
What does the Rendering Portal provide?
The Rendering Portal provides access to a free on-line rendering service that utilises the power of computing clusters including hundreds of processors to run your rendering task faster. You can render an animation that was created with the Blender 3D animation program by providing a .blend file as input. The portal returns the rendered frames and also a video file as an output.
Who can use this service?
The Rendering Portal can be used by anyone. However, please note that this portal serves demonstration purposes only. Therefore we limited the number and complexity of the rendering tasks you can run. If you would like to use the portal or the underlying technology for commercial or research purposes and for more complex tasks then please contact the developer team at rendering@lists.cpc.wmin.ac.uk.
How can I get an account?
To get an account please select the “Create new account” option on the right. You can also find a detailed description about account creation and other portal functionalities here.
Who operates this portal?
This portal is operated by the Centre for Parallel Computing at the University of Westminster. Please contact the portal team using our mailing list if you have any questions or comments regarding the portal.
